University Sains Malaysia Interview
I've been looking for blog post like this before I went through the interview at USM but I barely find one. Therefore, I'm here to share my experience during the interview for 2015 Sept bachelor degree course intake and I hope that this post may guide you guys who have been chosen to go there for an interview.
Well, I only applied for accounting program. I received a sms from them about two weeks before the interview. *skip to D-day* After registering myself at the counter, I was given a goodie bag which contains a pen, and some booklets about usm and the accounting course. I was also given a form to fill. There were 10 questions if not mistaken. The questions were as below:
1. Why do you choose usm?
2. Why do you choose usm accounting?
3. What do you know about usm?
4. Who influences you to choose accounting?
5. Is usm your first choice?
6. What else uni you have applied?
7. What do you know about school of management?
Above are the questions I remembered so far. Sorry for couldn't list down all. I may have rephrased the questions. There were no accounting related facts questions been asked in the paper. Ohh, I met some seniors and they told me there was no such questions paper given to them when they interviewed.
The interview was four-to-one interview. Two were professors while two were outsiders. Basically, what you need to do is just convince them you won't reject their offer. They asked me to do self-introduction and then we had some chit chat about Korea as I mentioned that I love Korea very much. They also mentioned that among 500 candidates, they will only offer to 100 candidates and they want to make sure no one rejects them. As I applied for UM also, so they kept on asking me to make a stand between USM and UM. A lot of the candidates hesitated when been asked to choose. As an advice, prepare your "excuses" to convince them you don't want UM. Well, of course I had mine so yea, I think I passed that question. However, I was hesitated when I've been asked to choose between USM and Korean Uni IF I were given a chance to go there. Well, they're kinda sneaky that they caught my weak from the chit-chat we had earlier. Lastly, the interview took about 10-15 minutes each person. Ohh yeah, UM and USM have the priorities to choose first, so those who are rejected by them, then only will be sent to UPU.
